Artist Statement
My recent prints are a collection of organic materials on soft-ground zinc plates along with large collagraphs. The works suggest places from my childhood environs that supplied solace and contemplation for me when growing up. Recently returning to these locales with maturity, I found that same sense of contentment along with a new perspective of my place of origin.
The characteristics and distinctive memories of these places reveal details and a new awareness of changing and non-transitory stations along my life path. With the changing tide and shifting sands, I am inspired again with new discoveries within these magical environs as they are being re-born with beauty and dignity after the Super Storm Sandy. Visual arts are always being defined and re-defined with the development of new avenues for expression. In the near future, it is my desire to combine and merge these new avenues of artistic expression in technology with traditional artistic methods and build new art forms from previous forged foundations. |
